Cover Pokémon: Unown

Unleash the power to change all your opponent's Pokémon weaknesses to Psychic type! Introducing the all-new Unown V and Unown VSTAR!

Unown V features the move "Victory Symbol," which requires three energy of any type to use. Its effect allows you to win the game outright if you use this move when you have only one prize card remaining.

Meanwhile, Unown VSTAR's VSTAR Power, the move "Starlight Cipher," is even more overwhelming. As long as this Pokémon is on the field, all Pokémon on your opponent's field have their weaknesses changed to Psychic type. This means all your Psychic type Pokémon can deal double or even more damage to your opponent's Pokémon, making it incredibly powerful.

Try combining these cards to instill fear in your opponent!

The Pokémon Tool "Exceptional Glasses," included in the "Brilliant Stars" expansion pack, allows the Pokémon holding this card to triple the damage when calculating the weakness of the opponent's active Pokémon. This effect gives Pokémon with relatively low base attack damage the chance to punch above their weight, potentially causing the opponent's Pokémon V to faint and allowing you to claim two or more prize cards.

The Psychic-type Stage 1 Evolution Pokémon, Claydol, featured in the "Evolving Skies" expansion pack, has the move "Psy Arrow," which deals 60 damage to one of your opponent's Pokémon. Notably, this move calculates weakness and resistance even when targeting benched Pokémon.

Also featured in the "Evolving Skies" expansion pack is the Psychic-type Pokémon Medicham, with its move "Vigorous Kick." This move has a base damage of 80, and if your opponent has a Pokémon VMAX in play, it deals an additional 90 damage. After using Unown VSTAR's "Starlight Cipher," this is enough to knock out most Pokémon VMAX.

More Cards Related to the Lost Zone

The "Evolving Skies" expansion introduces a variety of cards related to the Lost Zone. These types of cards are also included in the "Paradox Rift" enhancement pack. Let's take a closer look at them.

Banette's move "Lost Mine" can be used when you have 10 or more cards in your Lost Zone. The effect of this move allows you to place 12 damage counters on your opponent's Pokémon in any way you like. Since this effect involves placing damage counters, even Manaphy with the "Wave Veil" ability cannot protect benched Pokémon from being affected.

Delphox V's move "Mystical Flames" can inflict both Burned and Confused status conditions on your opponent's active Pokémon, disrupting their strategy. Additionally, the move "Magical Fire" deals 120 damage and allows you to send 2 energy attached to Delphox V to the Lost Zone, dealing an extra 120 damage to one of your opponent's benched Pokémon.

Rotom V's ability "Fast Charge" lets you draw 3 cards from the top of your deck and end your turn, providing an excellent way to replenish your hand, especially useful for trainers going first. Rotom VSTAR has the ability "Star Switch," which allows you to discard any number of cards from your hand and then draw the same number of cards. Its move "Scrap Pulse" lets you put any number of Pokémon Tools from your discard pile into the Lost Zone, dealing 80 base damage plus an additional 40 damage for each tool moved this way.

Radiant Pokémon Introduction

The "Paradox Rift" expansion includes two Radiant Pokémon cards: Radiant Greninja and Radiant Toxtricity.

Radiant Greninja's ability "Concealed Cards" allows you to discard an Energy card from your hand during your turn to draw 2 cards from the top of your deck. This ability is incredibly useful in situations where you need to replenish your hand or strategically discard energy.

Its move "Moonlight Shuriken" lets you discard 2 Energy attached to Radiant Greninja to deal 90 damage to two of your opponent's Pokémon, providing a powerful way to spread damage across the board.

Radiant Toxtricity's ability "Paralyzing Interception" places 2 damage counters on any Pokémon V whenever either player attaches an Energy card from their hand to it. This ability can be strategically used to gradually weaken your opponent's Pokémon V as they try to power them up, adding an extra layer of pressure during the game.

Overview of some other Trainer cards included

The powerful Dragon-type Pokémon Regidrago VSTAR makes its debut.

Regidrago V's move "Dragon Laser" requires 2 Grass Energy and 1 Fire Energy. It deals 130 damage to the opponent's Active Pokémon and also hits one of their Benched Pokémon for an additional 30 damage.

Regidrago VSTAR's move "Apex Dragon" uses the same energy requirements as "Dragon Laser." However, it allows you to choose one Dragon-type Pokémon's attack from your discard pile and use it as this attack, without needing the required energy for that specific attack. This flexibility reduces the deck's dependency on meeting various energy type requirements.

The powerful VSTAR Power—Ability "Legacy Star"—lets you discard the top 7 cards from your deck, and then choose up to 2 cards from your discard pile, show them to your opponent, and put them into your hand. This ability is particularly useful when your hand lacks the cards you need, allowing you to pull crucial resources from your deck or discard pile to set up your strategy for the turn.

More Pokémon with V Evolutions are also making their appearance, expanding the strategic possibilities within this expansion

Alolan Vulpix VSTAR evolves from Alolan Vulpix V, and its move "Snow Mirage" deals 160 damage. This attack's damage is unaffected by any effects on your opponent's Active Pokémon. Additionally, during your opponent's next turn, this Pokémon is immune to damage from attacks by Pokémon with Abilities.

The move "Silver Snow Star," a powerful VSTAR Power, can be used without any Energy cost. It deals 70 damage times the number of Pokémon V your opponent has in play, making it a formidable attack against decks that rely heavily on Pokémon V.

Brimwyn VMAX evolves from Brimwyn V, and its ability "Witch's Domain" allows you to move up to 2 damage counters from your Pokémon to your opponent's Active Pokémon. This ability can be strategically used to heal your Pokémon while simultaneously applying pressure on your opponent by transferring damage.

Its attack "G-Max Smite" deals 150 damage and also confuses your opponent's Active Pokémon. This not only inflicts significant damage but also adds a layer of disruption by causing confusion, which can make it difficult for your opponent to execute their strategy effectively.

Introduction to other powerful Trainer cards

The Supporter card "Lance" allows you to search your deck for up to 3 Dragon-type Pokémon, reveal them to your opponent, and add them to your hand. When combined with cards like Ultra Ball, which lets you discard cards from your hand to search for Pokémon, you can prepare effectively for using Regidrago VSTAR's "Apex Dragon" attack. This enables you to place the necessary Dragon-type Pokémon in your discard pile, setting up the conditions to utilize their moves with "Apex Dragon."

The Item card "Trekking Shoes" allows you to look at the top card of your deck. You can choose to either add that card to your hand or discard it and then draw the next card from the top of your deck. This card provides flexibility in managing your hand and deck, allowing you to cycle through your deck more efficiently to find the cards you need.

When a Pokémon V has the Pokémon Tool "Forest Seal Stone" attached, it gains access to the VSTAR Power—Ability "Star Alchemy." This powerful effect allows the Trainer to search their deck for any one card and add it to their hand. Since this ability is not an inherent ability of the Pokémon itself, it is unaffected by the Stadium card "Path to the Peak," which typically disables abilities of Pokémon with a Rule Box. This makes "Star Alchemy" a versatile and reliable option for accessing crucial cards during a match.

The Stadium card "Collapsed Stadium" reduces the number of Benched Pokémon each player can have to 4. This card not only limits your opponent's ability to fill their Bench with Pokémon but also strategically allows you to discard your own Benched Pokémon with low HP. By doing so, you can prevent your opponent from knocking them out and taking Prize cards, effectively managing your board state and minimizing potential losses.
